    Master Bath Remodel
    $36,000

    Bathroom Remodel Debriefing – Disappointed

I am very disappointed with the performance of Green Bay Remodeling (GB) on my bathroom remodel.

Fundamentally the problems were: poor workmanship, blatant errors, lack of attention to detail by work supervisors and project management, and an inability to recognize problems and/or report them to me in a timely manner. Some examples are described below. This impacted schedule, cost (for GB, not me), the end product, and my overall mental health.

There was a continuing pattern of doing poor quality work, assuming it was okay, and then fixing it when I complained. Mistakes (tile, grout, grab bar, temperature limit stop damage, cleanliness, etc.) were never admitted, and apparently it was hoped I did not notice them. This reduced my confidence in GB as the job progressed.

The estimate to complete was 3-4 weeks but ended up 11 weeks. A major issue on this project was that I had a poor work crew that was replaced after 5 ½ weeks. But there are, in my opinion, as you will see, other underlying issues that compounded problems and created problems of their own. Based on my experience, the problem Is not just one worker, or a single crew, or a single manager, but more systemic in nature.

Green Bay: I like their business model. You sign a contract and they commit to price before they see the complete design. I purchased and designed almost everything independently and GB installed it. They do have a large showroom from which you can purchase. They were no price-related issues throughout the contract. No hassle, no back and forth, etc. Plus you get a 1-year labor warranty for returning the completion survey!

After receiving the initial contract to sign I nearly quit and went elsewhere. This was because the contract was a nine-page “pilot” which was poorly written, with many typos, really not an enforceable document. It even had language that contradicted our initial discussions, in my favor. Scary. I spoke with one of their current clients and requested the same format, 2-page contract, and I was satisfied with it.

Some of the reasons for the delays were:

    - Workers did not show up for entire days or only worked a couple hours a day
    - Did not pass two city inspections, had to redo and await a total of two days for the inspectors to revisit
    - Two holiday weekends
    - The crew was changed after 5 ½ weeks, long after the problems starting occurring.
    - It took 3 days for a new crew to come on board. It was then I learned I learned of critical issues with the first crew’s work. The workers apparently made mistakes early on, 3 weeks into the project, and the project manager (PM) either did not recognize them or did not identify them to me until after the new crew came on board some 3 weeks later. The mistakes were with the shower floor and surrounding tile. I did have questions about peaks and valleys in the floor, but these were dismissed. The concrete shower pan and tile had to be removed and redone, ordering extra tiles at a premium with express delivery.
    - Damage to the temperature limit stop of the shower mixing valve during an unsuccessful attempt to diagnose a problem created by the installers. I needed to order a new part which took nearly a week to arrive.

At times, PM seemed inexperienced, over-confident, and not very knowledgeable about construction practices. I attribute some problems to being accustomed to doing things a particular way, but also to a lack of construction knowledge/experience. Your only interface is with the PM so it is important for them to be knowledgeable about the construction details of the project.

Recessed lighting is provided free by the contractor and I was told not to worry even though I complained that the selected lights were not appropriate. My bathroom is open to the bedroom. It has an 11 ft+ sloped ceiling. The proposed lights were wide angle (they would illuminate the high ceiling and not the room below) and also they did not gimbal, so because of the sloped ceiling they ended up pointing to the bedroom not the bathroom below. I identified gimballed, narrow-beam lights, that were indeed news to the PM, that were more appropriate, and we used these.

The first crew ran out of tile, even though I ordered 6% more than the 10% overage that was initially requested, and they had to use scraps for what they thought was finishing up the wall tile work.

I complained about how the shower tile was chipped around the shampoo niche and the window and was told that was the best they could do. Maybe it’s the best anyone can do, but it does look sloppy. Ultimately, I identified some wall pencils to cover the chipped areas around just the window, which they installed and it looked ok in the end.

I requested that my grab bar be positioned 34 inches above the finished floor. The posted design drawings and associated text on the submission to the City reflected this. But after all the tile was installed I find out from the construction progress photos that the stud that was installed behind the shower wall tile was installed too low to meet this requirement. Granted, only an inch but I am old and tall and it makes a difference. Too bad, this was such a simple thing and there was plenty of time to correct it before the wall tile was installed. Another detail missed.

I specified the best possible one-coat paint and Green Bay paid for it. The initial paint job was so poor (bare areas, light painted over) that I requested a second coat, for which I purchased the paint for both trim and walls.

Vinyl plank flooring is generally laid in a random staggered pattern. This is recommended by the manufacturer and included in the installation instructions. When questioned the PM seemed to have no understanding of this. This is just something of which you should be aware if GB installs floors for you.

There were problems with the shower mixing valve. Plumbing personnel spent 6 hours trying to diagnose and fix the problem without success. It was reassembled in an odd manner, not looking like the manufacturer’s website. I was told that they would come by the next day to open up the wall behind the valve to check it out. No one looked at the installation instructions and no one called the manufacturer. I was told that Mexicans don't do that which I found very offensive. But I did call. The manufacturer told me it was likely only a cartridge issue and gave me things for them to check. A different plumber came in the next day and sure enough got it working halfway decent in an hour, basically using the manufacturer’s guidance. He told me, and showed me, that the temperature limit stop had been damaged at some point during the installations. I ordered a new part to replace the one they damaged.

More plumbing poor workmanship. Of the two faucets installed, there was one leaking drain and one leaking trap.

They do a poor job with grout. I could not get the color grout I wanted because I was asked the day before it was needed and it was not available. In the end, color choice actually did not matter because the finished, sealed, grout was, tile-to-tile, a variety of colors, a variety of textures, and maybe 10% of it close to resembling my chosen color. Again, disappointing, considering that my 1989 house has 100 feet of gray tile grout that is all the same color. Ask for color seal for your grout to assure consistency of color. They used color seal of my requested grout color and it turned out fine.

They did a very poor job of maintaining cleanliness: My bathroom has bottom and top openings opposite the bedroom where I slept for the project duration. The bottom was covered and zippered but not the top during the demolition and dry wall work. Dust was everywhere. When I complained, the PM pointed to the top open area and said that’s where the dust came from. No further attempt was made to cover this area for several days. I became so disappointed that got a plastic tarp and covered it myself. Even after this, every night, after the days on which they worked, my routine was to sweep out and vacuum the bedroom. In my yard, I complained multiple times about the same cleanliness issues but the same things kept happening. It was like repeatedly having to ask your child to make their bed.

They made a mess of my stone patio – residual cement, concrete and quickset covering 50 sf that they were not able to completely remove. They did try a power washer which ended up removing the stones from the concrete aggregate. I demonstrated a technique using household vinegar and a wire brush that was completely effective; this was the last thing the PM tried and it worked best, but not completely. There was no crew, only the PM to clean the area, which was unfortunate.

The PM never seemed to have enough time with me for my liking, but was around almost every day the crew worked. I was told multiple times, “trust me” but I was let down. It seemed that schedule had little meaning on this project - the published schedule available to me on Buildertrend had few details. It would show basically the next day’s activities only, if that. From what I was shown, it was not used to manage the project but was just for show.

Bright Spots: Buildertrend is a great application for communication. I only wish it was used to its full potential. GB coordinated the custom fabrication of my countertop from MSI. This worked out great and seamlessly. I even got some complementary cut leftover slab pieces for use around the home. Shower doors – GB connects you with an installer who is experienced, helpful with design suggestions, and efficient. He changed my mind from swing doors to sliding doors.

In the end I got a product that I was mostly, but not completely, satisfied with. But it should not take so long, it should not be so stressful, and you should not have to monitor performance so closely to get what you want.

Update for my review: Green Bay Remodeling closed my job after final payment, leaving a shower drain that leaks to the subfloorr, incredible as it seems.
In the interest of full disclosure, some 3 weeks after a bathroom remodel project completion that was 8 weeks late, I went to clean the hair collector in the linear drain and observed an 3/16 inch gap where the linear drain was offset from the drain pipe. Water was free to leak through this opening and into the subfloor space. It took 21 days for Green Bay to fix this problem. And they fixed it without griping. But according to the City inspector, this is not something the CIty inpsector checks.
Again, as I experienced throughout this project, a simple attention to detail by the project manager could have caught and corrected before leaving the job. Either he knew and did not tell me or was not aware of this very simple thing, either way very poor performance.
Think twice about hiring this company, they are not 4-stars, regardless of what the reviews state. No 4-star contractor would let problem after problem drag on, nor tolerate employees that concluded this job with a shower that leaks into the subfloor, nor tolerate an project manager and supervisor that hide, obfuscate, and refuse to admit the company did anything wrong. From my experience with Green Bay Remodeling, my problems were not just because of one crew, or one project manager, or one supervisor, but rather there appears to be a systemic problem at the company: little attention to detail at the project level and not being transparent with the client, and a mentality on up the management chain where everyone says the same mantra: “you have a fantastic bathroom, what’s the problem?" I did not get everything I wanted o this project.
Green Bay seems eager to honor, and respond to, and repair, warranty problems such as mine. However it took 3 weeks before any work was performed to address the latest problem. With Green Bay you will eventually get pretty much what you want and a quality product, but you have to be very careful. Watch them, and preferably have someone on hand with remodeling experience for over sight.

Complete kitchen and 1-1/2 baths, reroof hous e

I recently had Green Bay Remodeling do my kitchen and bathrooms in my home in Mill Valley. The project included some engineering as the kitchen floors and ceiling were far from level, and it took considerable work to straighten out. They also replaced the old galvanized pipes with copper. The project manager, Danny Lebowski, was always on top of things and addressed any concerns or minor changes promptly. I am so pleased with the final product and am happy that I went with Danny and his crew. I even went ahead and had them do the roof as well. The entire crew were real professional, on time, and competent with whatever task they were asked to do.

    Kitchen remodel

We had our kitchen done by Green Bay Remodeling, they sent out Nerya for the consultation. He was very thorough when explaining the pros and cons which could happen during a kitchen remodel. He was also very upfront about ‘no sugar coating’, and it showed during the project. When we had few unexpected challenges he took full responsibility and made sure the problem was taken care of right away. In the beginning we were looking for contractors and we didn’t really think a project manager on the job was a necessity, but Nerya proved us wrong - it helped a lot! Not only was the remodel finished on time and with amazing results but it actually saved us money that we believe any other contractor would charge us extra for. Also the crew was very nice and kind, always showing up on time. We are very happy with Green Bay Remodeling and would without a doubt recommend them to all our friends. The kitchen looks amazing and we are getting so many compliments from our family and friends!

    $100,000

Our experience with Greenbay Remodeling was great! And our project manager, Ariel, is outstanding! We are very happy and very satisfied with the result of the project. We had our kitchen, powder room and fireplace remodeled and the result was great. Timing wise, the project was completed in 6 weeks as scheduled. Ariel and his crew are true professionals and masters of their craft. In every step of the process, Ariel was with us to help and always accommodate our needs. Every penny we spend was worth more than what we spend for given the amount of dedication and attention we received from the time we met Ariel for the first time, to planning, to buying the materials, demo and actual remodeling work. We are very happy and satisfied customers!!!

    Kitchen and Powder Room
    $100

Our Project Manager, Ariel, has been a tremendous key to our project’s success. He is very personable, with great customer service, with great attention to detail, and an expert in his field.

With our project (kitchen remodel, powder room remodel, fireplace update, flooring for entire first floor, and painting), we spent a great amount of time planning that then resulted to a smooth flow in the project. Me and my husband are both working parents and were both juggling with work and 3 kids. Hiring Green Bay was an excellent decision as they took the load off our shoulders with our remodeling project. They have the expertise in the field and have the connection with trades and suppliers. Our project finished on time at 6 weeks and right on budget. I would recommend Green Bay, especially Ariel, for your next remodeling job.

    Bathroom Remodel
    $65,000

We just finished up a bathroom remodel with Green Bay Remodeling. From the beginning they were great. Their office staff reached out after we filled out their online form. When we meet with Zack, our project manager, we felt at ease. He wanted to make sure that we knew that he took care of his clients. And each time he came over to check in and see the progress of the project he always had a smile on his face and wanted to make sure that we were just as happy with what was going on. When we called him with concerns he tried to make it right with us. His crew was able to build our dream bathroom. Every time we talked with the crew, they were always upbeat. From day one, they were meticulous about clean up and protecting the rest of our house from the work area mess.

We would definitely use them again and recommend them to anybody looking to remodel.

    bathroom remodel
    $30,000

Our bathroom was in serious need of repair when we hired Green Bay Remodeling. The floor beneath the bathtub had some serious water damage and the whole bathroom needed an update. We had another company come out to do a quote and asked a few other contractors for estimates on the job. They all came back with similar numbers and most said it would take several weeks. Not only did Green Bay quote us the same price as the others, they were confident that they could finish the job in 2 to 2-1/2 weeks.

We are just a couple of days away from completing our remodel and every moment has been as easy as it can possibly be. From our first meeting with our project manager Zack Illnetsky, to every interaction with the workers in our home, having Green Bay Remodeling at the house has been an easy and pleasant experience. From top to bottom they are courteous, helpful, and respectful.

When our tub surround arrived cracked, the workers came with me to Lowes to get a new one. The store couldn't replace it right away, and I had to make arrangements to pick it up the next day. I had school and my husband was at work, so the workers went and picked it up for us and brought it to the house. They went early to Lowes and arrived at our house at their usual time. An experience that started out as stressful ended up being relatively easy because Green Bay was there to support us.

It's never easy to have workers in your house, but our experience with Green Bay has been wonderful. They are quick, professional, and tidy; every day our house is left as clean as it can possibly be during a major remodeling project. Zack checks in with us either in person or by phone every day and he is always friendly and helpful. He responds to texts and phone calls quickly, and he always finds the answers we need.

When we started researching this project we thought it was going to be a nightmare that lasted for weeks on end. Everyone told us that remodels - especially bathroom remodels - take longer and cost more than expected. Our experience with Green Bay has been exactly the opposite; they have done the job on time and on budget so far and we are looking forward to our brand new bathroom!

    Bathroom Remodel

I contracted with Green Bay Remodeling to do a full bathroom remodel. Jessica & Daniel were my project managers. While this company's estimate for the project was higher than some of the others I had received, I felt good about the quality of service that I was assured I would get. Both Jessica & Daniel seemed honest, genuine, knowledgeable, helpful and reassuring!
My bathroom project required a full gut. Everything was removed including the tub. The remodel included updating the electrical and plumbing, installing a new shower, bathroom vent, vanity, light fixture, floors, and painting the walls. Jessica & Daniel worked with me on the price and even covered the cost of some of the materials. Throughout the remodel, they called and texted me almost every day with project updates Whenever I had a question or concern, they worked to resolve it immediately. I was extremely happy with the consistent communication flow. Jessica & Daniel made it clear that they wanted me to be completely happy with my new bathroom and in the end, I was thrilled with the outcome!
If you need a home project of any size or description completed, give Green Bay Remodeling a call and ask for Jessica & Daniel!

    exterior remodel and structural repair

When we discovered that we had an urgent need to replace a leaking sliding patio door, I sent contact inquiries to several contractors. The first response came from the office at Green Bay Remodeling. After gathering some information about my project an appointment was scheduled for an evening visit to inspect the project site and advise me on options for the rep[air of the water damage.
Danny Lebowsky arrived precisely on time for our meeting and listened carefully as I described the water damage which appeared to be caused by a leak in the sliding door. While we had originally thought of the project as a replacement for the slider, as I talked with Danny I came to realize that a better option would be to erect a wall with a window and pet door. This made perfect sense due to a close-by door opening to the same deck which was outside the slider.
Working together, Danny and I developed a scope of work which included a plan to repair subfloor and any structure that was water damaged. The plan was designed to cause the least damage to the existing plank flooring. Our discussion evolved into a contract which listed each item of work and the payment benchmarks. Danny assured me that he would serve as project manager and that work would be continuous once all materials were available. That night I knew that I had found my contractor.
Danny provided regular updates on job scheduling while we waited for the delivery of the window. Work on the wall began a few days before the arrival of the window. The crew would arrive every day as scheduled and I watched as they completed their quality work.
I was so pleased that I worked with Danny to add two additional projects which would run consecutively: new accent molding around windows and the garage door followed by repainting the full exterior of the house. Again I was very pleased by the craftsmanship of everyone who worked on the project. Danny either visited the site daily or called to give me updates.
We are very pleased with the final result of all aspects of the three projects and would gladly have the Green Bay team work with us again.

    Bathroom Remodel

We did our first remodel with Green Bay in early 2018 which was taking down a wall between our den and living room and some other items. Later in the year we decided to do another remodel, our bathroom and we knew from the start we would go with Green Bay due to our previous dealings with the company. We phoned our previous Project Manager Danny Lebowski and he contacted us back immediately. He came out, did an inspection and an estimate and within a few weeks we were underway again. The bathroom was a pretty big job as it was a complete remodel, taken down to the studs and rebuild. The project started and finished in the allotted time, Danny was constantly in contact with us with daily updates, he took care of any dealings with inspectors, the city and with the work crew. The project was pretty smooth and the work was done with quality and care. Thank you again Green Bay and thank you Danny Lebowski for your hard work and dedication to your customers, we enjoy working with you and your company. Keep up the good work!!!

    Bathroom Remodel
    $17,000

My experience with Green Bay Remodeling was perfect.

We had just lost our Mother and moved into her house. Since she didn't use the bathroom for a while we found a hole had rusted into the bathtub and we needed to replace it. We shopped around and found Bath Fitters was willing to do the job for $8K and finish it in one-day. We trusted them. It took them 2 months to get the pre-fab materials they used to do the job. Then it took another 2 months to not even come close to completing the job.

When the demo day finally came with Bath Fitters, we got a stop work order from the city because they tried to do the job without getting a permit. That caused more delays. When they pulled out the tile they didn't notice a section of the wood that was dry rot. As the project went on with Bath Fitters they continued to fail inspection and used drywall in the shower instead of wet wall. The shower pan was too big so they tried to shimmy it into place with spacers leaving a gap for water to run to the slab. They failed to even get the drywall they put in within 1/4 inch of the shower pan so they had another guy come out and move the drywall. This guy had a bad attitude and moved it so the holes didn't align with the shower fixtures. At this point we were fed up and fired Bath Fitters from the job.

After doing some more research we found Green Bay Remodeling on Yelp. They had a great reputation so we called up Zach and asked for a quote. His quote was reasonable so we said your hired! What came next we didn't expect. Zach went to the permit office the same day we hired him to finalize the permit. We didn't think it would happen this fast. The next day he showed up with all the materials. The third day the workers came to start the job. They were very polite and took great care to keep the house clean of dust from the construction. They always showed up on time and ready to work hard. The bathtub and shower tiles were installed in less than a week and they passed all their inspections with flying colors.

We are so happy that we finally get to take a shower after 5 months of waiting for the previous vendor to not complete the job. I would recommend Zach and Green Bay Remodeling to anyone I know. They were the best contractors I have worked with and I trust them fully. For our next project I will definitely call Zach at Green Bay Remodeling to work on the job.

I had a kitchen remodeling done by some other company and honestly was disappointed.
when it came to do the bathroom i was much pickier and wanted a company that would take my needs and wants and make it happen without cutting any corners.
I called up GBR and had zack come out , he was really nice and we connected really well and he was the right fit for me.
when it came to choosing materials i had hard time so zack went out of his way to get me a real 3D so i can actully see what the bathroom would like .
    thank you zack and GBR

Kitchen demo and remodel. David listened to what we wanted to see on our kitchen and really took the time to understand what we wanted. We passed inspection with flying colors, no issues. There were issues with the tile floor install, but Mike, the owner came out and took a look and had the whole floors in the entry way and kitchen completely pulled up and re-installed and did not charge me a dime for that re-do. A company that stands by their work is good in my book and is rare in these times. So refreshing. They even covered the cost of me having to take my dog to doggie day care. I would hire Green Bay if I had another job to do and do recommend them.
My kitchen is beautiful. I would like to note that the cabinets were not done or installed by Green Bay, but all of the work was, demo, electrical, added a gas line for my new stove, backsplash, counters and floors were.

    $30,000

we had a bathroom completed by green bay remodeling, and Zack was our project manager

we are 110% happy with the finished project - the team was very fast, and clean and were helpful in solving problems that came up

As with any home construction project, issues can come up. Zack and his team were super helpful in finding a resolution as soon as possible as to not delay the project since tearing down walls can be very disruptive to a home :) For example, our plans to get a pre-cut counter fell through, and when I called Zack to let him know, he said 'don't worry about a thing, ill take care of it'. This lifted a HUGE weight off our shoulders. He's one of the only contractors i worked with that had this level of ownership and responsiveness on our project. yay!

Again really happy with the results, and would totally recommend Zack and his team.

Even though remodeling can take a toll on you, we had a nice relationship with the contractor Zack Ilinetsky and his team. The friendship we established will continue past this time. The project was an extension of the living room and addition of the new dining room, a very nice improvement of quality of life! The team knows its work and does a qualified job. They worked hard trying to complete the job in a timely fashion.

    Master Bath remodel

I was a bit hesitant to hire a contractor based solely on reviews, but after meeting Zack (he was one of only two companies I interviewed), I felt confident that my project was in good hands. Now that the job--which expanded from one master bath remodel into a second, half bathroom remodel--is almost complete, I can say with complete sincerity that Green Bay Remodeling exceeded all my expectations.

I remodeled a master bath in my previous home (which was a nightmare - hourly charges + materials, while learning on the job). I have also undergone three kitchen remodels.

Green Bay is the real deal. Their pricing is fair, they are hard workers - even coming on a Saturday to ensure the job was completed on time, and they do excellent work. No matter what the challenges were - the team made adjustments to ensure my vision and the unusual plan for my master bath, (which I developed with Style Kitchen and Bath in Oakland) was realized.

They are so efficient that I can assure any control freaks reading this: you can feel confident staying somewhere else during the job.

Zack also has a great "rolodex" of resources and relationships for all things remodeling. He is VERY responsive - I should have added that first! My questions were immediately answered. My materials were all over the place - and Zack was completely gracious about all the pick-ups. Overall, I am very happy with the quality of the work, the service, and the price.

My husband and I looked for a contractor to build 1200 sqf addition , we met with all kinds of contractors from different sources.
Green Bay came in last , we met with Zack ilinetsky .
The process was actually completely different than what we experienced with all the others (husband very picky so it took time).

Zack actually came out to consulate us , his interest was to make sure that we are aware of every detail , we did a mistake by getting plans from an outsourced architect which resulted in high costs of changes and permits (GBR has an in-house guy that takes care of it and comes out much cheaper but what’s done is done).

Zack took us to see other large projects that he personally manages and we had good conversation with other customers.

For finish material - all other contracts put in the budget a certain amount of money for those finishes , Zack told us a secret that a lot of companies mark up the prices , he offered working with his vendors and take his discount(ended up paying 45% less!!!!!!).

Overall we had a 6 months relationship with Zack and we created a high end addition that looks natural to our house.

I know we were not easy customers but he stayed patient through the whole process.

The last point I want to mention and was extremely important to us was to keep same price from beginning to end , Zack promised and stayed behind it, we started and finished at the same price!!!!!!!

We were lucky enough to have Zack and his team on the job. We needed someone who could get the job done and they accomplished. Remodeling a 1800sq ft two story home and we wanted it done within a 2month period. Remodeling started May1st and we would’ve been done with EVERYTHING June 22,2018 if my vanity and my front doors came in on time! (Lowes sucks). When I tell you Green Bay out did themselves, Im still in a state of disbelief because you wouldn’t even believe it was the same house! My house looks AMAZEBALLS lol seriously i cant thank the team enough. We greatly appreciate all the hard work it took. I know we were a pain sometimes but it was worth it. Thank you again to zack nd his team.

From the get go Zack was helpful in answering our many questions and even went as far as accompanying my wife and I to pick out the tiles, sinks and vanity's for our new bathrooms. the scope of work included adding 300 sqf with 2 bathrooms, from planning to finish.

It has been a long journey but the outcome is spectacular. I would personally like to thank the entire crew from construction workers to roofers to electricians to tile workers. But most of all I would like to give a big high five to Zack for all that he has done!!!

We wanted to do a almost full remodeling of our house; kitchen, two bathrooms, electrical, vent, new laundry area, fireplace, and garage. Although Zack did not make the most competitive bid, we decided to go for him because he was the most straight forward of all contractors and, most importantly, the only one who was willing to write down in the contract that he will not increase the cost for the work no matter what. This was a clear indicator of his honesty and that we will not get trapped on infinite extra costs due to unforeseen circumstances.
Zack's crew was very efficient and did a good quality job. We visited the house often, and we saw first hand how they were always prioritizing a work well done over doing it fast. Zack and his crew kept us up-to-date during the remodeling and when a decision had to be made they always explained all the options, the pros and cons of each one, but never pushed us in any direction.
During the work, we discovered that the sewer pipe was clogged and had to be changed. Zack stayed by his word and he did not charge us any extra money for replacing the sewer pipes. At this point it was clear we made a good decision when hiring him.
We are pretty sure that if we need extra work on our house in the future, Zack is going to be our first option. I think it is hard to find a better cost/quality/honesty combination in a contractor in the bay area.

We worked with Daniel as project manager for our Master Bath remodel. He and his crew were professional and competent. The work included a major tear down of the room to studs and included major repair and rebuilding of the outside wall shared with the shower. Forty years of water damage destroyed the wall. All the debris was hauled away and the room rebuilt to our plans. Daniel checked in with us every day and helped source all the materials for the construction. We could not be happier with the outcome. Green Bay stayed within our budget and delivered a finished Master Bath on time. All inspections were passed with flying colors.

    Bathroom remodel
    $16,000

Daniel was the project manager on my bathroom remodel and Green Bay did a fantastic job and fast. It was 2 weeks and I even had to be out of town but he handled the project well and professionally. He helped with an issue with the supplier and got the project through inspection. Fast and great work. I would trust them again to do some other things around the house.

    Brick and Blockwork project

Green Bay was scheduled for an appointment/evaluation of our complex and they we're excellent in reaching out and communications. However, because we have a complex of 6 units, its extremely hard to coordinate all unit owners to be available for the evaluation especially when one is traveling the world for indefinite period. We already mentioned that I am the representative and also point of contact for the HOA not only because it affects my unit the most but also because I have the most experience managing construction projects and evaluating quotes. The owner of Green Bay found out that he/she couldn't chat with each individual owner at the last minute and then canceled his/her evaluation with us. Not a big deal for us since we have other quotes coming in but for a contractor that works in an area with numerous HOAs, this seems like a major drawback for even initiating conversations with Green Bay.

    Room addition
    $230,000

We had a need for a room addition , kids were too big to be in same room. I contacted GBR to get an estimate for the building and they assigned region manager Zack ilinetsky for our project . He came out and explained in detail the scope of work that a project like that required , he explained the planning process and pros and cons of having them do the planning(yes they have a planning team in house to do that!!). We ended up hiring him.
From the planning to the permit and through the entire project zack was the right person for the job , communication and high standards are his best qualities(apart being a cool dude lol) , we were informed and happy that even little things we didn’t see he insisted to correct - in his words “this is my business card” . They were clean and professional and so nice , making long story short I loved working with them.

    $53,000

My wife and I are very happy with our new kitchen and bathroom. Our project manager, Ray made our kitchen and bathroom remodel very easy. He was very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions for our projects. Ray is honest and straight forward. Ray spent several hours with us assisting with selecting our new appliances, counter tops, and cabinets. He provided much needed insight and suggestions that made our kitchen and bathroom perfect. The work crew was very polite and courteous. I was amazed with their work ethic and attention to detail.

I 100% recommend Green Bay Remodeling for any remodeling project!

    Kitchen Remodel
    $74,783

Recently, we had a major kitchen emergency which involved heavy water damage. This was especially dangerous with our baby in the house. We contacted three contractors to evaluate the situation to remodel our kitchen. Zack and his team were by far the most thorough, professional and competent. When it came to the actual work, Zack's team was courteous, on time and clean. They explained what was happening on a daily basis and were an absolute pleasure to work with.
GreenBay Remodeling is the best value hands down in terms of doing the job right the first time and having the peace of mind that true professionals are taking care of you and your family.

    $70,000

I had the pleasure to work with Zack and Green Bay Remodeling in a massive project that involved a total kitchen tear down, seismic retrofit and replacement of all my subfloor downstairs. From the very outset to now, I have found Zack and Green Bay to be very honest, great communicators and timely. In our case, we had to start our project under some duress with a major water leak in the kitchen. Zack was very responsive and came out to do a full detailed estimate for us on a Sunday and spent 3 hours with my wife and I going over the intricacies of how to get the project done the right way from the beginning. The Crew Chief Chris and all of the workers have been prompt, clean and true tradesman on the project. Just like any large construction project, there are curveballs. Our's came in the way of a shifting foundation and weakened subfloor. Zack was able to identify the problems and offer economic and efficient solutions to help us address them quickly. He remains quick to respond to all issues and has been one of the top project managers across all industries that I have had the pleasure to work with. Green Bay's prices while not the cheapest are fair and reasonable. I highly recommend Zack and Green Bay Remodeling for your next project big or small.

Super happy with my master bedroom and bathroom remodel! The whole team was extremely patient and accommodating with me. Their design input and expertise created a beautiful tile wall, increased the size of the bathroom allowing for a significantly larger shower and addition of a sliding glass door in bedroom. Highly recommend!

    bathroom remodel

We just wanted to tell you how pleased we were with Green Bay Remodeling. From the first day we met with our manager, Daniel, to the final day of inspection, we have been very impressed with their workmanship, communication, materials , and support through a bathroom remodeling. Daniel helped us from picking out materials, designing the layout, dealing with permits, and setting up a budget. He would respond quickly to our questions and concerns even on the weekend. The workers were very friendly and kept the area clean. Also, the project was completed within the time stated in the contract and on budget.

We would definitely use this company again and especially work with our manager.

    Luxury Bathroom Remodel

My hat's off to Green Bay Remodeling for successfully completing, in a reasonable amount of time, this challenging Scandinavian-style bathroom remodel four flights up from the street. The challenge began years ago when the bathroom flooded causing dry rot and a mold infestation in the floor and the ceiling below. The mold remediation company had to completely gut the bathroom from several feet above the floor. When done, they recommended Green Bay as a company who could get on the job promptly, which they did.

The remodel design was a collaborative effort, involving me (an architecture buff), my daughter (a landscape architect), and Green Bay's energetic Project Manager, Zack Ilinetsky.

We agreed on a walk-in shower with no shower pan and a white tile surround. Zack suggested three wall boxes in the shower to break up the plain white, and, when I decided to avoid a bulky sink vanity, an elegant pedestal sink. He also suggested tiling the entire bathroom up to the window level, not just the shower.

Zack, being knowledgeable about locally affordable bathroom fixtures, helped me keep the cost down why I indulged in ordering the finish materials online, thanks to Green Bay's policy of encouraging to choose them.

I was impressed with the hard-working and technically skilled crew as they carried cement board and over a ton of tile up the four winding flights, creating a waterproof floor for the shower.

Then a crisis occurred: the local planning department, which was in the midst of a reorganization, sent a plumbing inspector unfamiliar with the local code, who threatened us with having to tear up the beautiful water-tested floor! Zack really showed his energy and determination, going to the planning department and explaining the technical details. They understood and sent us another inspector who green-lighted completion of this ambitious remodel.

Another unexpected treat Zack provided was the advanced ceiling fan with Bluetooth stereo speakers and a blue night-light. I can play music from my smartphone while enjoying my shower.  An automatic on-off switch for the new recessed LED ceiling lights was also installed.

Having taken a luxurious shower in my new high-style bathroom (that's a pre-existing sauna behind the wooden door, by the way), I am now ready to show off my gorgeous new bathroom to the world.

    rebuild outdoor stairs remodeing driveway

My expereince with Green Bay Remodeling was very good.

The project manage Adam was knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions for my progect - an out door staircase and a remodeled driveway with railing and planter fence. The existing asphalt was replaced with pavers, which totally tranformed the look and function of the area and added to "curb appeal."

Adam was prompt with starting and finishing the project in a timely manner and Hugo the carpenter was skilled and knowledgeable.

Overall, I am very happy with the results.

    Kitchen remodel
    $80,000

After moving into the home that I thought was perfect for us things just began to fall apart. We decided that because I was so unhappy with the kitchen that the best way to make our house feel like a home was to completely remodel it. We shopped around, looked at several different companies but in the end Green Bay had the best price/plan to make our kitchen everything I dreamed of. We worked with project manager Daniel and he was so accommodating, he showed up when he said he would, explained everything to us in great detail, and after finishing this project I feel like i'm finally happy with my little home. Thank you again Green Bay, if another project comes up, you'll be our first call!

Green Bay Remodeling did a fantastic job on my home renovation. They picked up the project after another builder left me hanging and they completed it on time and on budget. I will definitely work with them again and I recommend them to others.

    Flooring demo and replacement

We had a very messy flooring demolition to do, plus replacing the flooring on the second floor of our home. The Green Bay people not only did a beautiful job, but they worked through a heat wave and terrible air quality to get it done on time and on-budget. The floor looks great! Great craftsmanship and great service.

    $19,451

Zack and his crew did an amazing job replacing our roof deck. We gave him 3 different scenarios (repair deck, replace deck, remove deck) and he gave us prices for each, pointing out the pros and cons of each approach. After we got some other bids, we realized that other companies were hiding things from us, like issues we were likely to run into along the way. Zack covered all of the possibilities so we knew what to expect. He was honest and fair. His workers were all super nice and very respectful as they went in and out of the house. We couldn't be happier!

We just completed our bathroom remodel with Green Bay and it looks absolutely geogous. After getting a few quotes from other places, we chose Green Bay because I felt that our project manager, Zack Ilinetsky, was very direct and professional when he was going over the contract with us. Once we signed with them, Zack assisted us throughout the whole design process, and during implementation, he made sure that the work was done right. Project manager (Inon Cohen) came to my property (on time) after claiming to have reviewed all the documents I submitted on buildzoom. He complemented me on how detailed and complete my description was, with lots of details, and helped him provide a bid. (But he apparently didn't look at the plans I submitted). Still, he was happy that he had plenty of time to review the info. However he did not come with anything written down, and proceeded to write the "scope of work" down in handwriting that was barely legible, at the end of which he gave me a lump figure of $303k for my project. I find this very lacking, and unprofessional conduct. If he had so much time to review the details, why didn't he bother to put it in writing? I put a lot of time in preparing my documents to help contractors bid the job, but this contractor apparently didn't take me seriously enough to writing things down before our meeting. On top of that, this company, based in Concord, managed to be significantly MORE expensive (by about 50% more) than contractors from San Mateo area! If he did not come prepared, to show that he takes my project seriously enough to even write things down, how can I begin to take his bid seriously? It was mostly a waste of time.

Foundation work/repair, slider converted to exterior door, repaint, perimeter french drain

Zack was an absolute pleasure to work with on our project. He is a manager concerned with requested outcomes, keeping a close eye on his already professional and friendly workers, timeliness of completion and personal relationships. We wanted to convert a slider into an exterior wall/normal ext door and they found some stucco concerns, buckling, possibly foundation/soil issues on one side of the house. Before the wall job, they put in 5 helicals on that side, then repaired/repainted stucco on large single-story house, added a near-full perimeter french drain, and repaired small foundation issues under the house. Very nicely done overall, repaint looks great, and Zack even had his guys come back to get 2 spots done better. I found some sprinkler problems months afterwards and he very quickly had his guy come out and repair next day (of the 3 areas, 2 spots not caused by them directly). His attention to detail will lead us to consider them closely for future projects.

I am very pleased to write a very strong note of appreciation and recommendation for the wonderful work done on our house (620 Euclid Ave. in Berkeley) by the various crews of Green Bay Remodeling, which was organized and coordinated by the project manager Zack Ilinetsky in the most professional and at the same time personally very considerate and personable fashion. The work involved a new partial roof, sealing cracks in the stucco outside, the complete painting of the house outside and of all the extended wood of the decks, stairs and terraces, the replacement of custom-made windows in the kitchen, the dining area and in the study, the remodeling of one bathroom (replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower, new toilet, new water sink and retiling of floor and walls), painting of the living room, replacement of the kitchen counter top, sealing of basement, new water heater, foundation work and other things to complete remodel the house. All this work was done very efficiently, on time and with excellent craftsmanship. While we are very grateful to the excellent crews, with many workers involved, our highest praise goes to Zack who made sure that the work was done with least interruption to our daily routine as retired seniors who stay home most of the time, that we were involved in all decisions and that we were satisfied with the result. I can say without any hesitation that I will be happy to call on Zack again, if the need arises, and to recommend him, his colleagues and Green Bay Remodeling with enthusiasm.Ask for zack for your project manager!

    House remodel
    $180,000

We are young couple that never remodeled before.our goal was to find the right fit for us and get the project done in a timely manner.
After interviewing quite a lot of contracts we almost gave up, the feeling we got was not what we wanted. But then we asked our neighbors and got Zack's name and asked him to come for an estimate.
His bid was not as cheap as some others we saw but our neighbors assured us that we won't regret it.
And they were not wrong, the accuracy the responsibility and work ethics that Green Bay employees have is something rarely found today.
Thank you Zack and the team for everything!

    $100

Due to high houses prices we bought a fixer upper.
We knew it's going to be a long process to bring this house to our standards.
We contacted Green Bay remodeling through yelp and met with their project manager Zack.
What can I say , from the moment he walked in we understood that this guy means business , his knowledge and understanding of design was the deal breaker for us.
Their pricing was in the middle of the bids we got and honestly the explanation we got of what each step would entail was what made us make the desicion.
From the first day that the engineer came out to our last day of remodeling Zack was on top of things.
I'm writing this review and I'm happy that I can actually give a contractor a positive feedback- Way to go Green Bay team!

the green bay remodeling crew have worked extensively on our home in multiple projects for the past one year. We bought a foreclosed home in very bad shape. they helped pull all permits from the City of Berkeley and helped us reconstruct our kitchen, bathroom, closets, floor, exterior etc. We have got a brand new home that amazes our friends; green bay remodeling gets tremendous credit for his craftsmanship.

they have an eye for detail and they go to great length to do a perfect job. While painting the exterior, they discovered dry rot. Instead of papering over, they spent an extra 2 days to make sure that the damage was repaired with almost no extra charge. In the kitchen, they ensure we re-purposed much of the granite and existing wooden closets to keep the cost low. Further, they came with great ideas to make the highlight wall standout in the living room with the right amount of creativity and practicality.

Its been a pleasure working with green bay and we'll recommend them very strongly.

I hired Green Bay Remodeling for my complete kitchen remodel. I have a very small kitchen with only one drawer. I didn't want the kitchen enlarged by knocking down walls, but wanted more storage space. The owner, Ray, designed a kitchen that gave me more storage, more counter space and the feeling of a bigger kitchen. I am extremely pleased with the end result and it is my favorite room in the house! When it came time to remodel my 2 bathrooms, I did not hesitate to call this company and again Green Bay exceeded my expectations. Ray and his team did an absolutely beautiful job on the bathrooms. I have had numerous compliments on my new rooms and I would gladly use them again in the future and would recommend there services to anyone! Thank you Ray from Green Bay Remodeling!

Anxious to make home improvements before selling our house, my wife and I began plans with Home Depot. HD's service & follow-up were poor, so we dumped them and turned to Yelp! Green Bay Remodeling was Yelp!'s highest-rated general contractor in our area, so we decided to give them a try. We were impressed from the very first phone call with Green Bay's professionalism. Unlike almost every contractor we have dealt with in 30+ years at multiple locations, Green Bay is GREAT at keeping customers in the loop, being punctual, honoring commitments, and doing quality work. We highly recommend them.

By the way, our project included demo and replacement of kitchen counter, sink, appliances, and lighting, installation of new quartz countertop, stone tile backsplash, sink/faucet/garbage disposal, dishwasher, oven, electric stove, as well as minor work around the house (closet door repair, medicine cabinet and light fixture installations). Zack was our Project Manager and main point of contact. Zack has a friendly, polite, high-energy, can-do personality, and really knows how to give a customer a comfort level and assure them that they and their needs and concerns are a top priority. Saul, our foreman, is a master of numerous crafts, and like every Green Bay person we encountered, he was friendly yet businesslike, hardworking, considerate and a pleasure to have in our home. We were so pleased with our initial project that we took Zack's suggestion to use more of our stone mosaic backsplash tile to add a striking accent to another area of our kitchen. Good call, Zack... Skilled craftspeople and personable, on-the-ball, service made Green Bay a good choice for us.

Okay I recently had my house totally redone by Green Bay Remodeling. Overall it was absolutely fantastic! The best part of it was the project manager Ben.

He is just gone out of his way above and beyond what he needed to do. I have total confidence in him. His communication has been excellent and that he really cares.

I have had my floors stripped and hardwood floors put in.
I have had this house painted and they had no problems doing all the thousands of colors that I wanted which came out really great!
I have had new windows put in throughout the house.

My backyard has been remodeled as well. New artificial grass which is great, my dog loves it! it's easy to clean up and it just looks fabulous.
    New stamped cement textured.
A couple of aluminum patio covers were put in, which kind of match the house, the color contrast is beautiful and as well as river rocks around the borders of the yard.
It looks beautiful and is very complimentary.
I'm just extremely extremely happy with the whole thing!
Again I would like to recommend Green Bay Remodeling and the fantastic job they have done. I'm totally impressed with Ben the project manager who has just been fantastic throughout this whole process.

wanted to get my bathroom remodeled and updated with new vanity, tiles, and shower. I had a very positive experience working with one of Green Bay's project managers, Zack. He provided detailed explanations to every question and concern I had, and he was professional, cordial, and thoughtful about how I wanted my bathroom to look. He even gave me a discount on having a luxurious rain shower head added along with an insert on the shower wall for soap. Zack is the most reliable, trustworthy, and thoughtful project manager I've ever worked with. The entire process went smoothly due to Zack's consistent presence and thoroughness. I also value Green Bay Remodeling's professionalism and customer service quality. I highly recommend Zack and Green Bay Remodeling to anyone for any remodeling project.
