    Addition
    $265,000
    154 days
    Flexible

I contacted KCB back in 2013 for an addition to my residence. My budget was tight but I found out that KCB was willing to work with me. Young gave me a few options on how to proceed with my project whilst being able to sign under my budget. We ultimately decided to hold off on the bathroom for the addition but still ran the necessary pipes and electrical wires into the space. By holding off on the bathroom for the addition, I was able to comfortably sign well below my budget. Since the piping and electrical wiring was completed during the addition, this gave me time to save in order to complete the bathroom at a more comfortable date. Having the wiring for the bathroom done during the remodel ensured that costs would be low once I decided to finish out the bathroom since no walls would be opened up. I truly appreciate Young and Victor's creative suggestion and success in keeping project costs in line with my expectations.

    Honest, Funny, Professional

    Yay!! We're the first!

We hired Kim back in 2009 to build our new home in Cupertino. We went with KCB since they were extremely professional from the start. It took three days for us to receive our bid after the preliminary walk through. Having the bid line itemized helped us see the breakdown of cost per section and gave us confidence in their transparency.

Once we broke ground, Kim held weekly meetings to keep us up to date on the construction. They were also very knowledgeable when it came to questions regarding renovations or upgrades that would efficiently maximize my property value.

We pushed out our completion date by a few weeks due to our change orders but the project itself finished according to schedule. They even threw in freebies such as my lovely linen closet and in-wall ironing unit.

To say that my experience with KCB was enjoyable would be an understatement. Being able to choose from the abundance of different finishes made me feel like a designer! Maybe I can convince the hubby to do a light remodel this year :>

Victor if you're reading this say hi to the kids for me!

Q:
How many references should I get? How many references should I get?
A:
As many as you need to feel comfortable. Prospective clients usually ask us for three. We provide about 15-20 in order to disperse the calls between our clients better. Common questions: What issues came up during your project? How was it handled? Was the project completed on time? Were RFIs responded to in a timely manner? What were some things you liked about working with this contractor? What were some things you disliked about working with this contractor? You should definitely tailor your questions to fit your own project and call references who's project is similar to yours.

Q:
How quickly should I expect to receive an estimate after a walkthrough has been done? How quickly should I expect to receive an estimate after a walkthrough has been done?
A:
Typically a kitchen remodel estimate should take no longer than 3 days. We let our clients know when they should expect to receive their estimate after the walk through. In your scenario, as stated by others already, the contractor may either be: A.) not interested in the job - factors influencing this decision are primarily budget, scope of work, start time, and the amount of jobsites they currently maintain. B.) they may have simply forgotten. We recommend sending them an email or giving them a call. Worst case scenario they will at least let you know that they are no longer interested in the job.
