One of the worst experiences with a contractor I've ever had, and we've had our roof, electrical, furnace, and foundation worked on.

I dont know how it's possible, but it seems like every part of this project went awry due to poor management. I can go step by step to point out where it went all wrong:

    1. Bathtub - We had a simple request. Please give us size dimensions and type so that we can purchase the appropriate tub. We were delayed by weeks because the contractor failed to do so. At one point, I was calling him from a tub store, desperately trying to get simple dimensions and bathtub type. We're amateurs when it comes to this, so we needed some guidance.

    2. Vanity - We ended up buying and returning FOUR vanities, delaying the project once again by weeks. Again, the contractor failed to provide the specs, leading to us purchasing vanities that weren't the right size and that didn't fit the plumbing. We were also never informed that the p-trap is on the right side and had to find a specific vanity to accomodate for that. Something you'd think the contractor would be sure to point out. Instead, the contractor blamed us for the delay in construction, saying we didn't get the vanity in time (I don't know what he meant by that considering we were never given a schedule).

    3. Tiling - tiling seemed to be fine, but we did have problems with a couple not aligning correctly. We had to have them come over a second time to fix it. Also, apparently, the tiling went in too early, since the window we had purchased, under their recommendation, wasn't the right type! We almost had to get it retiled again, which would have been an issue since the tile we bought was no longer in stock.

    4. Shelving - They had promised to take us to buy the shelves, for us to only be surprised one day with the shelving system already purchased (and it wasn't even the type we had discussed earlier). The shelving didn't fit. It scratched the walls. We pointed this out and told them to sand down the sides and repaint the wall. They only repainted the wall as we painfully found out when the shelf scratched it.

    5. CHARGING THE WRONG AMOUNT! I was first overcharged by a few thousand. They tried to charge me twice for many services I had already paid off. When I pointed that out with the exact check numbers, they still tried to overcharge me by 900. Even after all this, at the very end, I was again charged the wrong amount.

    6. We kept asking for a schedule throughout the project. We never got one over the course of six months. Yes, that is how long it took to complete one small bathroom, which they claimed the could finish in a matter of weeks. The contractor even yelled at me when I told him I didn't want our house to be a wasteland when construction came to a standstill thanks to the two-months delay the window took. The same window the contractor "helped" us buy.

    7. Because of the lack of schedule and organization, we never knew when or even what day to expect the workers to show up. I asked the contractor numerous times (face to face, via phone calls, and texted him numerous times) to please tell us if we workers were not supposed to come. Oftentimes, the workers never showed up. Or showed up hours late. Or even on days they weren't supposed to show up, we'd see them in the morning. Because of the chaotic schedule, we were forced to cancel any and all summer plans.

    8. Now that the work is done, we have issues with the paint. It's bubbling up. The owner told us it's not their fault and to use a shower curtain. Thanks. BUT WE DO USE A SHOWER CURTAIN. What kind of advice is that? So disrespectful. So does that mean the paint used in the shower stall and ceiling is different? Why would they do that? Seems more like a quality control issue with improperly primed walls and shoddy painting.

IN SUMMARY, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Response from Promodeling Inc April 5, 2022
Thank you for providing your feedback. As the founder and owner of Promodeling, Inc., the satisfaction of our customers is paramount to me and my team. With that said, I am sincerely apologetic for what you perceive as a bad experience. I would like to clear a few things up by addressing each of your points, but first, I would like to point out that via our mobile app, everything regarding your project is ALWAYS available to you, 24/7. Project documents, including our contract, timelines, dimensions and measurements, outstanding amount due, inspection reports, etc. can be accessed at any time by you. You also have our personal phone numbers and email addresses, which you did use to communicate with us throughout the duration of the project. Every single one of our customers prior to this has been more than happy to have access to this information via our app, as it eliminates the need to call us at late hours of the night for measurements and the like. Regarding the bathtub measurements, our project manager provided you with the measurements in under an hour from the time you requested them (which, I may add, was at 10:00 p.m.). Please see the attached screenshots from our interaction. As for the vanity measurements, please see the attached screenshots from the 1:30 a.m. conversation you had with our project manager in which you requested the dimensions and the PM responded within about 10 minutes despite the late hour. Furthermore, you changed your mind about the vanity you wanted after the vanity was already installed, which is the cause of any vanity-related delays. I’m not sure what you mean about the tiling. Upon your request, we retiled the portion you felt was misaligned and as for the window, I am also confused about what you’re referring to, since the window was something you decided upon with the window dealer independently of anyone from my team. We typically do not provide finishes, including shelving, but since you insisted, we tried to accommodate you. Since you didn’t like the ones we suggested, you went and picked them out yourself (which is precisely why we don’t pick out finishes for customers). You were not charged incorrectly. When you initiated the project, you planned for two bathrooms to be remodeled; however, when you ran into financial difficulties halfway through the project, you requested that we scale the project back to one bathroom only. We accommodated this request and recalculated the cost based on the one bathroom. There was a mathematical error in the new calculations, which we immediately fixed, with an apology. Never were you overcharged in any way during this project; in fact, my team went above and beyond to provide you with a great experience even given the lack of funding. The project commenced on June 7, 2021 and was completed and approved by you on September 28. Please see the attached closeout documentation signed by you on that date. The finishes you ordered, a sink, faucet and window, were delayed due to supply chain issues – a complication resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the reason for the 3 ½ -month project and is beyond our control, which you acknowledged at the time. Again, all scheduling was clearly communicated and available within our app, which you acknowledged at the time. We were also VERY responsive to all of your messages, though they often took place in the middle of the night. Your paint was applied properly to an immaculately prepared surface. We advised you to wait 2-3 days before using the shower so that the paint could have the opportunity to fully dry. Since you declined a glass shower door, we did advise you to use a shower curtain to protect your surfaces from water damage. Though we followed all best practices for painting, a possible plumbing leak within your wall is very likely the reason paint won’t stick to your wall. NOTE: In your recent update of your review from 12/20/21 you continued to provide further false information which seems like someone else came to repair the leak. Liran Luger is my assitant and part of Promodeling Inc team, him and the same labor crew who remodeled your bathroom did the repair. Though we’ve reached out to you in an attempt to resolve your problems out of the public eye, we’ve been met with resistance and disrespect from you and your wife. All work trades performed at your project passed the required city inspections and was verified to be completed and satisfactory by your very own signature. Finally, we understand that it is your right to reflect upon your own perceived experience in the online space; however, using this platform and others to introduce false information about a company or individual is harmful, defamatory and pursuable in civil court under libel laws and will have no choice to use them against you very soon

    Painting/siding project

Promodeling did a great job for us to replace siding on two sides of our house, replace trim, prep and prepare all sides of the house for painting, and painted the house. We have a two story house so this was quite a project. We started it in March and the Promodeling crew worked super hard to keep to the timeline they established, managing the project through multiple rainstorms and shelter in place rules. The crew was really professional and hardworking, coming on the weekends as necessary to bring the project in as close to the timeline as possible. Guy, Solomon, Kris, and the team were easy to work with and very responsive to feedback as the project went along. I felt that they addressed concerns immediately and professionally. They were transparent about additional work that would be good to have (like insulation, thanks Kris!) and the future issues we may consider doing as funds become available. This was not a cheap project but I felt it was money well spent given the great result.

    Electric rewiring of house
    $38,000

It has been a little over a year since Pro-Modeling did an electrical job for us, replacing all the old knob and tube wiring.

For starters I found their sales method of not giving written bids and forcing us on the spot to take or leave the offer very unpleasant. However, the electrician seemed excellent so we went ahead and hired them. Sadly the electrician had a family emergency come up and was unable to complete the job. His replacement was not as skilled or experienced, and the drywall/work crew was terrible. Despite not being pleased with with the work we eventually just signed off on the project to get them out of the house. Among other issues, the main problems we had were:

    - new LED recessed lights are not compatible with the dimmer switches, they flicker and make buzzing noises at certain levels.

    - some of the floor joists were cut through to accommodate the recessed lights, instead of checking for them they just went ahead and drilled wherever.

    - some holes for the recessed lights were cut too big leaving a gap between the light edge and ceiling that was not filled out addressed.

    - the hardwood floors were not well protected and got scratched and dented.

    - part of our baseboard trim was cut out, and the project manager wouldn't fix it until we could prove his team did it. Luckily we had some pre-construction photos showing the undamaged baseboards but the lack of management and responsibility on his part was shocking.

    - two ceiling lights were taken out and the wiring covered without any consultation. One was spackled shut and the other was left with an ugly plastic cover. The project manager told us it was left that way if we ever wanted to hang a light there again, but couldn't answer whether it was wired, and why there was no longer a light switch for it.

    - some holes for the electrical outlets were cut too large leaving gaps between the faceplate and wall.

    - switch plates outlet covers were spackled and primed over. When I pointed this out they promised to replace them, and instead just did a quick clean of the worst ones leaving us to scrape off/replace the rest.

    - the drywall mudding was very poorly done, trim was mudded over, corners are lumpy and uneven, tape joins are starting to crack, you would never think it is new.

    - the new drywall/mudding was not properly cleaned before priming, so when we started to paint we had primer peeling off the walls everywhere they had worked.

    - both bathrooms were left an absolute mess, pee and dirt everywhere.

Maybe we just got unlucky with the particular project manager and his team, but we are very disappointed with the work and will not be hiring Pro-Modeling for any future projects.

    Kitchen and bathroom remodel
    $85,000

I hired Promodeling to remodel my kitchen, and they did such a great job I hired them back to remodel my bathroom too. I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. They provided great quality and service, and I felt like they were collaborative partners through the process, working with me to figure out what I wanted and provide different options. The results are beautiful. I highly recommend these guys - you won't regret it!

Patio remodel and basement room conversion
    $60,000

The Promodeling team did a wonderful job on my house. I worked with Gilad, William and their team on a few remodeling projects and they all turned out beautifully. (A facelift for my fence that looks gorgeous and a full remodel to turn a windowless concrete basement into a light-filled windowed room.) They were responsive and were true partners through the process, helping me select materials, walking me through different budget scenarios, and staying in contact throughout. They paid attention to the details and the quality of workmanship is very high. Thank you so much to the team, you've helped make my house into a home!

Repair and replace a severely damaged section of an office building.
    $10,000

ProModeling came to give me an estimate on repairing and replacing a section of the roof of my office building that had been severely damaged by a faulty pump. The drain pipes had to be replaced and reseated before the roof job could start, but Guy Oren stayed in close touch and scheduled his team to begin work the day after the piping job was completed. During the reroofing, I received photos and texts of the progress and, when additional damage was uncovered, Guy explained the extra work and costs involved. I was highly satisfied with the job performed by Pro Modeling and would absolutely recommend them to others. Guy Oren was an excellent communicator; working with him and his roofers was a pleasure.

The contractor was not experienced in building a porch or pathway. They touted themselves as custom builders on high end homes. Right from the beginning the project started off with the wrong crew and very inexperienced workers. Tbe porch was built 4 times wrong, The tile on pathway had several mistakes and had to be fixed at our expense and it still has flaws that cannot be fixed. As of today water pools at tbe landing around door - adding to another problem to fix.

Response from Promodeling Inc November 27, 2018
Hello Lea, I am so sorry that you were not satisfied with the porch and walkway. We do our best to ensure our customers are happy with our plan before signing the contract as well as throughout the building process. The job we did for you was done according to the proposal and drawings which were approved by the city. Because the structure was built to code, we passed the framing inspection. During the job you changed your mind a few times about the pattern of the tile and we happily removed the tile 3 times after installed. Because you expressed your concerns about the initial team, I provided a different work crew. I am always happy to revisit the job to address any arising issues.

    Siding Upgrade Project

I enjoyed working with Guy Oren and his crew. The project was to install siding battens on about 6000sf of siding to cover uncaulked panel joints of a previous contractor. In addition, some flashing was installed between a next-door building. Guy and his crew needed to use two neighbors' roofs to perform the work and took care to use roof protection for ladders and other equipment. They caulked the battens very well. Guy came out to inspect the work and found some details he wanted to improve. I appreciated that. His crew showed up on time and worked diligently to beat the scheduled window for the roof access. Good communication. Was on time and knowledgeable about the scope of work that needs to be done. Liked that he was in house full service and would not need to contract out any part of the work. Only drawback was the slight push to make decision quickly. Not going to rush a decision re a $15K-$35K job. Otherwise he is showing initiative and is very helpful with trying to come up with a solution that won't break the bank so to speak. Currently awaiting estimate.
